Presents don’t really matter that much to me anymore. I enjoy exchanging gifts with family and friends, but the important thing is that Christ my Savior whose arrival was so long awaited, has come…

DECEMBER 24, PRAISE HIM AS THE GIVER OF HOLY EXPECTATION

“My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him.”  —Psalm 62:5

Most Joyous Giver, For little children, there is probably no greater day of anticipation than Christmas Eve. When I was very young, I remember waking up often during that night and asking my parents, “is it time to get up yet?” My sisters and I could hardly wait to see what was under the Christmas tree.

Presents don’t really matter that much to me anymore. I enjoy exchanging gifts with family and friends, but the important thing is that Christ my Savior whose arrival was so long awaited, has come…and now lives in my heart.

I approach December 25th with the sincere desire that Your Spirit would pour forth and that all the world would believe that Jesus truly is the Messiah, the one who was prophesied of old; that those who have searched so long would finally come to a place of rest in You. What greater gift could one receive on Christmas, than the salvation which was purchased on the cross of Calvary?

Oh Holy Father, You have given so much. Dare I ask for more? Only that as I live, I would joyously expect Your Son and His love to be born anew in my life each day.
